Pirates Steal Stupid Fast And It Hurts

I don’t make a lot of money.  I just received a google alert for Stupid Fast.  I have very little money.  Publishing for most people produces very little money.  Every little bit that comes in matters a lot.  The google alert was for a free download site.  This single site has distributed, as of 10:45 central, 3151 free copies of my book.  I cannot tell you how crappy that makes me feel.  You might say, “Those people wouldn’t read your book otherwise.”  Maybe not all, but some probably would (students who are assigned it, for instance).  Probably enough would have bought it so that I could pay for my son’s drum lessons or my daughter’s piano.  I also pay for their clothes and their food and their health insurance.  I would not have bought a luxury car or a big house, because I don’t have much money.  I could use a new pair of pants.

Okay?

This sucks and I’m sorry there is no excuse for it!

I have no money: Go to the library

They don’t sell it in my country: Book Depository

Packages get lost in the mail: Buy the ebook

Books are expensive: Stupid Fast is a paperback and cost less than 9.99!

Geoff , what I liked most in your text is ” so that I could pay for my son’s drum lessons or my daughter’s piano. I also pay for their clothes and their food and their health insurance ”

That stinks, and I agree with Cari – there is no excuse for it! You (and your family) deserve better.

Son of a motherless goat! Total BS and I hope they are shut down permanently. Unfortch, some people are dirty, thrifty people and will do anything to save a dime. I’m afraid they don’t think about the author and how this is stealing money from their diaper/beer fund. Stinko!

So…say one perhaps spread the word and had those 3k copies bought or ordered…

I’m not a miracle worker, but I’ve recommended this to a bunch of people looking for their kids for Christmas this year. I hope this stops; that’s a seriously shitty thing to do, which is the obvious response, but…you know. Not cool.

    How rotten.
Why do people think artists, writers (and teachers) should be flattered if someone wants their work – and it’s OK to take it paying nothing in return? Everyone has to pay bills – and their kids would like to go to college and have nice things just like those deadbeats’ kids!
    Really sorry.
